What video card will work?

i am looking to upgrade my video card, but it is very narrow because my psu is only 300W max and i have a slimline HP so i need smaller video card, what are some good video cards that i can get for what i have, i need something that i or you know will work. i play world of warcraft and i think my video card is holding me back cause i got a 2.8Ghz AMD Athlon X2 cpu and 4gb of RAM. any help would be awesome, thanks.|||Below is a link to some of the most powerful cards that fit in a slimline/low profile case. They don't require an extra PCI-E power cable, as they get all their power off the PCI-E buss. They only take up one slot, but are a tiny bit wider than normal.

Can i run a 64 bit video card in a 32 bit computer?

i have a hp slimline desktop and want to update the video card. the ati video card is 64 bit and my computer is a 32bit. is this a issue?|||I think you might be confused.

The video card driver is either 32-bit or 64-bit. Just download the 32-bit version if your OS is 32-bit and it'll work.

As long as the card fits inside the case, the motherboard has a slot for it, the power supply is powerful enough, and there is a compatible driver for your OS, then the card will work.

I need to find a new graphic card for my HP Pavilion Slimline?

So I have been waiting for the video game diablo 3 for many years now and its coming out quite soon, but I need a graphic card upgrade for my slimline. What would be the best graphic card out there for a slimline...

*It cant cost 10 000 000$...|||see the system requirements for diablo iii here:

http://www.gameshampoo.com/forums/thread…|||Lol, I have been waiting for that game forever, they keep saying that its coming and then its not...

Hopefully before the end of the world,

OK we have 2 FLAVORS, ATI or NVIDIA,

NVIDIA seems to have more support in games now days, I do a lot of performance graphics, so don't get hung up on highest FIRST NUMBER, for example GEFORCE 570 verse 470 they are very similar accept 470 costs less, try to more band for your buck, 470GTX will get you a 7.9 rating in windows 7, that's out of 8, which makes it pretty good, you can go for 480 and up, but remember price increases a lot also,

470GTX is lets say around $200, the higher you go....like 480GTX 1.5gig ram ddr5 - $230

keep increasing number if your budget allows, hey why not, if your budget is lower may not be as good fun but 450GTX lower performance around 110.

one more thing, cases done cost much maybe 30-50 for example...move your hardware into a bigger case, video cards like this will not fit inside a slimline case.

hope it help...don't hold your breath for diablo3, i'm waiting too, and i hope i'm alive to finally see it come.|||Well for a slimline case you aren't going to have that many choices, so you won't have to worry about breaking the bank... What you are going to look for is "low profile cards"... They are going to be weaker, and really not that great for gaming, but you will have to deal, or spend the money on a computer case and PSU along with a better card...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||Win your free diablo 3 copy, i just joined lewl :D

Can you install a regular sized video card into a slimline PC?

I have a slimline Gateway 2800 with a 300W power supply and a small-form-factor video card right now. If I simply left of the side of the computer, could I run a more powerful video card? I also suspect I'd have to somehow get a new power supply sitting somewhere else as well.|||They make replacement slimline cards, they just have an interchangeable bracket. Don't expect to get a high end gaming card, but there are a few options. You most likely will be OK with your 300W PSU on these types of cards.|||No, the card simply will not fit in the slimline formfactor case|||You may or may not have to bend the bracket in order for the card to slide fully into place... so it might fit, but that approach isn't recommended.

Replacing the bracket allows a slimline card fit into a standard PC but not the other way around, because the card is physically too tall.

Leaving the case open might be necessary anyway because slimlines are notorious for overheating- the cramped interior of the cases doesn't allow for good airflow and cooling, which becomes more important when the additional heat from a standalone video card is added to to the equation.

Transplanting all of the guts (motherboard, drives etc) into a standard ATX case would allow you to run any standard-sized card you want.

That would also make power supply upgrades easier because for most slimlines, the psu is proprietary. For some models 3rd-party replacements exist, but the are 2-3 times the price of regular ATX psus, and frequently still low-wattage.

The easiest solution is to just get a low-profile Radeon 5570. That's typically the best a slimline can take.

Video Card for Dell Xps 210 Slimline?

I have a Dell Xps 210 Slimline. And looking to upgrade to the best video card that will run with it.

Specs:

Processor: Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor E6700 (4MB L2 Cache,2.66GHz,1066)

RAM: Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (533MHz,4GB)

Power Supply: 275 watt

Now the only one i am seeing recommended is the Radeon HD 2400 Pro 256mb But that was around august of 2008. And i am hoping to find something a bit more up to date if possible.

Price is not a factor.

Thanks =)|||The one thing I am noticing is your 275W PSU. So unless you upgrade that (and I hear that Dells are picky with PSUs), you will be very limited on what you can get.

I believe you may be able to push for an HD4670 (they take virtually no power to run) so see if you can get that. It should also fit fine in your case.

I hope this helps!

Can i upgrade the video card in my HP slimline?

my comp is the s3200t. my current card is the Nvidia 8500 gt. i want to replace it with something stronger, probably the 8600 or the 8800. can i do that? if i can, what cards are compatible. i know that it has to be a low profile card, but i don't know what it looks like. can u guys gimme websites with those cards so i can look for them?|||You will never install an NVIDIA 8800 due to power limitations, plus I do not think there is an 8800 low profile.

You probably can use the 8600GT listed below.

I always advise against buying a slim style computer because your upgrade options are so limited.

Per HP: Upgrading and Servicing Guide (Page 20)

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00…

IMPORTANT: Due to the small computer size, you can only install a small, low-profile PCI-E card of the same approximate size of the graphics card. HP recommends that you install a card with power consumption of 25 watts or less.

Not all low-profile cards will fit into the PCI-E slot. Some external connectors, especially connectors located at the top of the card, may not fit properly into the back panel.

That 25 watt or less requirement rules out most high performance video cards.

Further I believe it has a 180 watt power supply; many high end video cards require at least a 400 watt power supply.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forum…

According to the new box just released, the PSU is now 180watts. Anybody else feeling tempted to burn that extra 20w? The s3200t is the box I refer to.

(Continued)

The one posted before is for a 8600 GT low profile. This one is for the 8500 GT low profile and it is in stock. The 8600GT consumes 30 watts. The 8500GT consumes 40 watts. Since HP sells the 8400GT and the 8500GT (with the 3200 series), the 8600GT ought to work just fine.

Better Video card Hp Slimline?

Is there a better video card i can put into a hp slimline? A regular card wont work because its to big, and i cant run any games with the one i have|||Look for the words "low profile" while you're searching. It's their term for smaller cards. But I am not sure even those would fit. I almost bought the slimline, til I saw somewhere that it's almost un-upgradeable.

I want to know which video card will fit in dell optiplex gx270 slimline desktop?

i am going to do a little bit of everything with the computer and the video cards.|||he's right. dells are very proprietary. looking at some images online, i doubt you will do much better than a stock psu. to tell you the truth, after looking up specs, i don't see it being worth upgrading in some aspects. if you are going to use it for normal stuff (web, typing, music, movies ect....) it should do ok. if you are wanting to play games, i would build one. you are limited in regards to the power supply, the 865 chipset (meaning you at best can run a pentium d, i think), the ram, the video expansion slot and worse yet, fitting a new better board in that case isn't going to work (i hate dells for that reason). i'm telling you this because i don't want ya disappointed in the performance area. if you were to upgrade you would likely be doing the ram, cpu and video card and in turn the psu before it's over with anyway. i'm sure you don't need to know about your system.

to actually answer the question

you need a low profile agp or pci (not pci-e/pci express) that has a small power consumption which will limit your options greatly doing a fast search at newegg i found this

hd 4350 512 mb 300watts (there was a few nvidia 5200s and 6200s also)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

the only thing though, i don't see any power supplies over 160 watts that are the weird shape. if have the square looking (micro atx/atx) psu, you might be able to. you might be stuck i don't know. it would be a waste upgrading the psu and video card (a relatively weak one at that) to run it on a single core (maybe a low end dual core if you are lucky). seriously, i would spend more money if you are wanting a gaming rig. for normal use, i'd leave it alone. it doesn't have to be overly expensive either. a decent dual core and video card paired with 4 gigs of ram will do it. something like this would do it

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

that's an e6500, 4 gigs of ram, 500 gig hdd, dvd writer, and 9800gt. it's 318 in the cart +shipping for 15. that should run anything out there with a few video tweaks on games and it's literally 3-4 times the cpu power. that would allow a little of everything.|||You will need to get a low-profile video card that your power supply can handle.

I have a slimline computer and i was wondering if a certain video card will work on it.?

I have a HP pavilion slimline pc,What i was wondering is if this vidoe card http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/eVGA-e-GeForce-8400GS-256MB-PCI-E-Video-Card-256-P2-N732-DX/sem/rpsm/oid/195154/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do will work on it?|||Sorry, for the Slimline PC, you need a micro PCI Express card, not a full-sized one.

Will a low profile video card fit into my hp pavillion slimline s7320n?

I am currently interested in purchasing a JATON Video-PX8400GS_EX GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Low Profile Video Card for my Hp Pavillion Slimline s7320n. Will this graphics card work and fit in my pc?|||low pro cards usually come with the standard slot that you can swap out.

the card itself will fit, the slot covering that you screw it into the case might be a problem, so see if the box comes with the standard slot.|||also be careful of the power of the card... its a pain getting a new powersupply for a slimline.

I need a video card that will work on a hp slimline s5123w i have looked allover for an answer please help?

the slot i have is 1 PCI Express x16 slot. thank you|||You will need a low profile video card.

These are the most powerful ones around:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Both are suited to gaming and perform similarly. The 5750 uses less electricity, but is more expensive.

If you need a basic card for casual gaming, watching videos, and surfing the net, this one is excellent:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If you need an HTPC card, this one will be more than enough:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

EDIT: The GTS 250 and 5750 will probably require a power supply upgrade on your part. Your computer only has a 200W power supply, and the recommended power supply for a GTS 250 or 5750 is 400W. The minimum I'd run either with is 300W.

Best video card i can get for my computer?

i was wondering what the best possible graphics card i could get for my pc, i have an hp slimline with only 300W PSU, but i heard you can still run video cards that require more then 300W, and also i have a AMD Athlon X2 2.8GHz cpu and 4GB of RAM, and i have one pci-e slot open, any good suggestions plz?|||I wouldn't recommend any high end graphics card on a 300w PSU. Furthermore any good graphics card could be bottlenecked by your CPU since the Athlon CPUs are old now.

http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalcul… to find out if your PSU supports your intended graphics card.|||You can get away with up to a Radeon 6670 on that. There are low profile versions out there, so you should be able to get one that fits, but have a look in the case and assess the dimensions, then compare to some pictures before buying.

Don't expect a great deal from it, but it should definitely help things.|||You'll be lucky to find one that fits the case to begin with.

Are there any video cards for Hp Slimline s3560a availible that fit?

I have a HP Slimline s3560a slimline computer.

I tried putting a 9500GT in it, nope. i tried putting in a 9400GT asus slim, nope.

but there's a PCI-E 16x slot, so there should be at last 1 video card in the world that fits in it.

Can someone find that for me?

They get a cookie :3|||I don't see a part number for the power supply in that model. You might want to check the label on it for the specifications. Slimline power supplies are usually weak low wattage units. A 9400GT models needs a minimum of a 300 Watt power supply (minimum +12 Volt current rating of 18 amps). The one in the slimline is probably no where near that.

HP Pavillion Slimline case and Video card?

I just bought a new Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT graphic card, and found out that it wouldn't fit in my HP Pavillion Slimline s3600f. The PCI port is right and all, it's just that the CPU itself is not big enough (or doesn't have enough space) to put the card well.

I don't want to buy a new little video card (because they are just slow). I want to stick with the one I have, and with my computer also. I heard that the only way I can do this is by getting a new case for my computer.

But I'm confused, because I don't know what that means by getting a new case, and if so, where can I get it? and wich case would be?

Thanks|||A case is the housing the computer is inside of. The shell.

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=…

I suggested one with a power supply because the slimline power supply most likely would not fit in the case properly.|||Cases are easy enough to choose if you know what kind of case to look for. The most important thing you'll need to know is the size of your motherboard; open up the case and get the product number (it should be somewhere near the heatsink) and type it into google with the word 'spec'.

This should bring up the technical details about your motherboard; the one you're looking for is the 'form factor''.

Basically, this is the shape of your motherboard in relation to how its attached to your case. If the form factor of your motherboard and case don't match, the screws that attach the MB to the case wont have anything to screw into, and if you somehow rig it with some ingenious McGuiver fix you'll probably short circuit and destory your beloved PC.

I dont know the form factor of your particular pc but it sounds like its Micro-ATX. You can get cases that are compatible with this and are larger and more spacious that your case.

There are several websites and companies online that are all about customized cases... typing 'case mods' or 'custom PC cases' into google should bring up thousands, and most really aren't that expensive.

Hope this helps!|||take the card back and get low profile card. its the same but built for low profile cases.

Graphic/video card for slimline s507w pc?

Ok so I have a slimline HP s507w pc and my VGA port broke off. Bummer :( I was told I can get a video card for my pc and be fine. but not sure what to get? is a graphics card/video card the same? if it is i would like some power behind my graphics as well. Not sure if there is powerful enough graphic cards for the slimline though =/|||Video card is another way to say graphics card. And you'll need to find out what kind of motherboard you have and see what kind of video cards it can support before you buy one.|||Well when I Search for Slimline HP S507W I find nothing on hp.com or google so i'm going to assume you posted the wrong model number or the computer in question is supper old.

Down in source I posted a link to a decent mid-level GPU (GRAPHICS PROCCESSING UNIT) & Should work with your computer. (Firs link is to a PCI Express 2.0 X16)

Second Link: (Is to the best PCI X 16 Card) because i'm not sure what your Motherboard supports.

Third link: willl take you to a PCI Express X 1 Card just in case!

Upgrading video card for Hp pavilion slimline pc

Hi there, I have a hp pavilion slimline s7627c desktop pc, it came with nVidia geforce 6000 series video card which is now getting pretty old and I am looking to upgrade to maybe like a 8 or 9000 series one. However, the computer is very small, about 1/3 the size of a normal one and thus standard video cards will not fit inside it. If anyone has any experience with this computer, please let me know if there even is any way to upgrade the video card, and if so, how. Thanks!|||This is the best you're going to get:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

It's not great but it blows your 6150LE out of the water. You should double check the form factor and shop around.|||It only has 1 PCI slot. You will have to look for a PCI graphics card.

On board video card failure-Replacing with Radeon low profile x1650 in HP Slimline?

Installation was a breeze-Perfect fit. Power things up & nothing. Now I read I may need a separate power cable to new card. Where is this power source coming from? There is an unused 3 prong plug on card. Can't load drivers until I get some signal to monitor. Any help appreciated to this obvious novice. Just trying to get wife's pc going so she leaves mine alone. BTW HP Slimline s3020n. Thanks|||Does your power supply have available plugs? Take your card to a local computer store and ask for an adapter that will convert the power connector from your power supply. Also make sure you disable you on-board video in your bios.|||The power comes from your power supply, usually the graphics card will come with an adapter to change from the larger pins on the PSU to the smaller pins on the graphics card. For some strange reason, apparently not all graphics cards come with said adapter and you have to go out and purchase it separately although it shouldn't cost more than like $7.

Alternatively, you may not need the power adapter and it could just be that you have to tell the BIOS that you want to use the new graphics card instead of the onboard card
