What video/graphic card would be best for Spider-Man 3?

I have an HP Pavilion Slimline s7520n PC with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 motherboard, and I would like to play the Spider-Man 3 PC game, but it requires a Pixel Shader Model 3.0. I checked, and it looks like my only room for upgrades comes in the form of a low profile PCI slot, and HP recommends that such a PCI upgrade be 5 watts or less.

What video card should I get? Or should I go a different route (get different PC, or buy a 7th gen console, etc.)?|||Go to www.newegg.com and search for N82E16814161079 this part will do what you need if it will fit into your case. Low profile is not good on heat control so you might have trouble later on down the road if the fan should ever fail. I'm so sorry you were suckered into a computer like that. Next time consult your local mom and pop computer store for a custom build. The price may be 100 - 200 more but your computer will be upgradable all the way.|||I checked out your pc and you should have a PCIE slot available. Then you can get a KICK BUTT video card.I looked up the ATI 200 and it says it is PCIE.|||NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT+

You might open up your case and look to make sure if you have an empty slot or not. If you have a slot upgrade is easy, If not I dont think a PCI (not PCIe) with 5 watts is going to run SM 3, if you can even find one, which I doubt.

I advise just buying a new computer, make sure its got a decent Video Card or at least a slot to put one in.

Good graphics / video card to replace this old one?

My computer has..

Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE.

I read that it is a REALLY bad video card.

I need to replace it with a better, modern one but I have a SLIMLINE pc from HP which means there isnt that much space inside.

Are all video cards the same size or do I need to find specific ones that are the same size as the old one to make it fit in my pc?|||I hate slimlines.

You have to find a low profile video card (it's about half the height of a standard card), to fit in that case. That's not too hard.

The biggest problem is that any kind of gaming level video card will draw more power than the supply in that slimline PC (usually 250W max) can provide. You can buy upgraded microATX power supplies to fit, but they are expensive. If that computer has a PCI Express slot, you could slip in a Radeon HD 5450 card (which takes very little power), but that's only good for HD viewing and very undemanding games.|||some video cards have a low profile bracket. A full size video card wont fit. You need one that supports low profile. First off, check that your computer has pci express 2.0 x16. If it does not it is not worth upgrading. Arguably the 5570 is the best low profile graphics card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… Another good card is the 4650. A bit cheaper for only a little less performance. Unfortunately with a slimline case you cant get the best stuff. Can you give us the rest of your specs. It would not make sense to invest in a new GPU (graphics processing unit/video car) if your CPU sucks. Also atleast 2 gigs of ram helps.

I installed the geforce 9500 gt 1gb low profile video card, with my 160w power supply, will i have problems? its a HP slimline s3620f.|||160w seems very low for a desktop computer these days.

400w would seem to a minimum, 500w or 600w (as is mine) would be better. I also have a Geforce video card and work it pretty hard.

Too small a power supply can cause lots of problems from loss of performance to overheating to system failures as I know from experience.

Good power supplies are not so expensive and easy to install.|||4 things can happen

your graphic card will work normal but it will not be able to perform full power cause its not getting enough power outta your psu

your graphic card works but when you try to play some high demanding game that starts to crank your graphic card up, your computer may shut off any other things using power off your cpu to give the power to your graphic card, such as your hard drive or comp monitor resulting in a blank screen or a blue screen of death

your graphic card just wont work at all and your comp wont boot up with it

or your graphic card will work like normal but because it is over stressing your psu so much, your psu will overwork itself and has high probability of breaking on you causing it to fry your entire comp(this tends to happen with the crappier brand power supplies as brand name such as corsair or silver stone strider psu are very durable)

if your psu is a raidmax brand id highly suggest replacing it as fast u can as they have terrible reputation for destroying comps when overloaded|||With 160W, I would say so. That isn't much, less than half the recommended rating, which is only or high quality PSU's, which your HP isn't.|||I would go with a higher wattage like a 600w

I want to upgrade my video card on my slimline so that i can output videos from netflix using an hdmi cord. HP Pavilion Slimline s5565uk Video Card Upgrade?

Hi all.

First time posting here, so please excuse any mistakes.

I've just bought a HP Pavilion Slimline s5565uk PC and really want to upgrade the video card to a decent one. The original video card is the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 and the PC is fitted with a AMD Athlon II X4 635 and 4GB DDR3 RAM (will upgrade ram to 8GB).

So, can anyone tell me what would be the best card I can fit into this PC. Obviously, this is a SLIMLINE PC, so it will have to be a low profile card.

Thank you all in advance.|||You can't put a very powerful card into ANY slimline computer. It's not just because of the low-profile restriction (although that's part of it... no midrange or higher cards exist in low-profile).

The major problems with upgrading slimlines are:

1) The power supplies are weaker than standard desktops, usually in the 200-225W range instead of 300W (the minimum for entry level gaming cards)

2) Those slimline power supplies are proprietary, so you often can't replace them with higher wattage replacements. The ATX psus available on Newegg and Amazon for $50 won't physically fit into a slimline case. In some cases 3rd party replacement psus exist but not always... and even when upgrade options exist, they're typically still below 300W and twice as expensive as regular 450-500W power supplies.

3) Slimline cases don't have enough space inside for good airflow and cooling, so slimlines upgraded with standalone graphics cards often suffer from overheating problems. This is further compounded by the fact that many low-profile graphics cards are fanless/passively cooled (which lowers power consumption, but doesn't cool as effectively)

For most slimlines, the best graphics card you can safely install is a Radeon HD 6450. It's slightly faster than a GeForce GT220 (and the newer GT520). You MIGHT be able to get away with a low-profile Radeon HD 5570 or GeForce GT430 (which are considerably better) but there's no guarantee those cards would work. They're fine on 300W power supplies but anything under 250W is a gamble for them. Note that I'm going by what cards actually draw, not the manufacturer's recommendations, which are often inflated.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

It comes down to what your other components draw- a slimline with a low-power consumption CPU like a Sempron or Core i3 has a better shot than one with a Phenom II X6.

You might be able to upgrade your HP's power supply to a 270W unit, which would run a low-profile Radeon HD 5570 easily... it might even handle a low-profile 5670 (the best low-profile card you'd have any chance at running). While a low-profile GeForce GTS 450 does exist, the minimum 400W psu requirement makes it unusable in 90% of slimline/sff computers. All name-brand models like Dell/HP/Acer are out. And the heat problems would be awful.

Some gamers with slimlines take the nuclear option- disassembling the computer and transplanting all the guts (motherboard, drives, RAM etc) into a standard ATX case which allows them to use full-height graphics cards and standard power supplies.

But HP throws a curveball there, too.... some of their slimline models (though thankfully, not all) have a non-standard motherboard power connector that's smaller than normal, so regular ATX power supplies aren't compatible! But there is an adapter available if you're unlucky enough to have one of those motherboards.

Video card for HP Slimline?

I need a smaller video card to fit inside my HP Pavilion Slimline. I just bought another video card, and it just won't fit. It's too big.

Any suggestions?|||You neglected to mention what graphics card slot you have, but here are the choices:

If you have AGP, the highest you can go for slimline AGP would be the ATI Radeon HD3450 AGP. http://www.directron.com/ah3450htp256m.h…

If you have PCIExpress, the highest you can go in slimline form factor would be the nVidia 9600GT. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

The 9600GT is a slimline card but it's a bit long. If length is a problem, then you have to drop down to the 9500GT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Can i remove this from my desktop to instal a Video card???

I have a Hp S7613W Slimline desktop PC and i want to upgrade the video card. it has a PCI expansion slot, for upgrade use, but it has a phone line connection (Modem connection) in the only PCI slot. It also has WiFi and a seprate Ethernet connection as well so i dont need the dial up connection. Can i remove that from the PCI slot so that i can upgrade my video with a PCI video card, or is that supposed to be left in the PCI slot. I need to know if there is a safe way or any way at all for that to be removed so that i can upgrade my Video. Any help would be great. thanks.|||Yes you can remove that card to install a graphic card. Make sure you get a low profile card for that slimline PC.|||Yes you can.|||This is from the manual

As a matter of fact it mentions the modem card so this is expected.

Removing and Replacing a PCI Card

You can also replace the modem card in the PCI card slot with another modem card or a new PCI card. The modem card is a telephone modem circuit board that fits into a PCI card slot.

Before You Begin

Observe the following requirements before removing and replacing the component:

IMPORTANT: Due to the small PC size, you can only install a small, low-profile PCI card of the same approximate size of the modem card. HP recommends that you install a card with power consumption of 5 watts or less.

Not all low-profile cards will fit into the PCI slot. Some external connectors, especially connectors located at the top of the card, may not fit properly into the back panel.

This procedure requires a Phillips screwdriver.

Removing a PCI Card

1 Prepare the PC and remove the PC cover. Complete the “Opening the PC” procedures on page 2.

2 Inside the PC, locate the PCI card slot on the motherboard.

3 Make a note of any internal cables attached to the card, and then disconnect them.

4 Remove the screw on the modem card bracket holder (A) on the outside of the frame. Remove the bracket holder.

5 Hold the card at the top and carefully pull the card straight out of the slot (B).

16 Upgrading and Servicing Guide

Replacing a PCI Card

You can replace the modem card with a new modem card or another PCI card in the PCI card slot:

1 Complete the procedures to remove the modem card. See “Removing a PCI Card” on page 16.

2 Align the edge of the add-in card with the slot on the PC and gently but firmly press the card straight down into the card slot (A). The whole connector should be seated properly in the card slot.

3 Attach the bracket holder with the screw to secure the card (B).

4 Connect any internal cables attached to the card.

5 Complete the procedures to close the PC. See “Closing the PC” on page 5.

6 Install any software drivers— supplied by the card manufacturer if you are installing another PCI card— or as required.

NOTE: If the new card or device isn’t working, read the card manufacturer’s installation instructions, and recheck all connections, including those to the card, power supply, keyboard, and monitor.|||You can take the modem out if you do not need it but :

1. You may void your warranty

2. The video card needs to be small enough to fit in the case.

So can anyone help me out? Any recommendations or instructions on which graphics card to pick along with what level of power supplies I need to upgrade to (if necessary)?

I need at least 1080p resolution support with graphics power to handle "modern" gaming.|||I'm sorry to say this, but there is NO WAY that you can put in a better graphic card with that power supply.

As for your current GT220 they recommend a minimum of 300W.

You need to change your PSU to 500Watt as a minimum to be able to run the more powerful gaming graphic cards on the market.

Depending on your budget, GTS 250 and GTS 260 handles most games in full HD.

If you have a BIG budget why not go for the GTX 285.

You can also check out this chart to decide what card is the best for you.

I have an HP Slimline desktop computer. And I need a new Video Card.?

I want to add an video card that has HDMI, there is the stock video card.. I have no idea what kind of video card i need to buy.....as far as should be a lo profile etc....just link a card that will work with my pc and the gods will bless you(if there are any). no but really thanks for your help.|||desktops vary so much from one to the other on which components are installed so you could have only PCI, or PCI with an AGP slot for the graphics or PCI with a PCI-E slot for the graphics.

for a card with HDMI i think you will need to have a PCI-E slot ( newer models have these ).

also, age of the PC will determine card choice.....cheaper or older PC's will have less ram than newer ones so sticking a top of the range graphics card in will see little improvement.

basically, you need to find out exactly what is inside your machine now and with this info you will get much better advice.|||Your best bets are the Radeon HD 5450 (low profile, low power, will fit in any PC with a PCI Express x16 expansion slot) for video watching and very light gaming.

Some slimline PCs can also take a low profile version of the Radeon HD 5570 (43W TDP) but more information about the power supply and components already in use is needed to make that call. The 5570 will allow slightly more gaming (e.g. WoW) at semi-reasonable speeds. It's not a fantastic or high end gaming card by any means.

You can usually get more information about HP and Compaq computers here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteH…

EDIT:

"mcp61" sounds like a motherboard model number, not the HP model number. If the power supply in there is < 250W, you had best stick with the low end Radeon HD 5450: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||It depends on your motherboard and I don't know what that is without the model of your desktop, do some research on your desktop and email me if you find out.

What is the best video card I can fit in my Slimline HP Pavilion PC?

Hi I bought a PC that came with a lot of RAM installed (4GB) a dual core processor of 2.7GHz and a lot of disk space (500GB), but the video card it brought was an NVIDIA 6150SE!! It can barely play The Sims 2 on a good resolution! And I really wanted to play Test Drive Unlimited with it...

What is the best video card that my PC could support? While I am good with computers when it comes to software, I suck a LOT when it comes to messing with the actual hardware so I'm not sure which video card would be best for my PC.

Thanks a lot!|||There are a lot of cards that will likely fit, but I can't guarantee any of them will work. Your system, the HP Pavilion S3400F, has only a 160 Watt power supply (I had to dig into HP's parts catalog to figure that out*). That's not very much.

The good news is that your system has an available PCI-Express x16 graphics expansion slot. However, despite my best efforts, I was not able to find a graphics card with a minimum power requirement under 300 Watts. I tried both nVidia and ATI.

I will admit my search wasn't exhaustive. You may better luck than I did with a more thorough search. You may even want to try something with a low power draw, like a nVidia 7100 GS**, on the off chance it may work. Crazier things have happened. The 7100 GS is not much of a gaming card, but it should be a slight improvement over the integrated graphics you have. Just make sure the store you buy from has a decent return policy.

I hope this helps in some way. I honestly wish I had better news. If you need any more help, please add more details to this question or feel free to email me through my Yahoo! Answers profile.

Good luck.

Is there a site that I can get a definite compatibility answer? Ive checked what the game site says is compatible but how do i know if it will work with the PC he has?|||Your options are very limited. Because it's a slim system, it can only use a low profile graphics card in it. Also, because it only has a 220W power supply, it can only use a low power, low profile graphics card.

Here's the system specs-

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…

That system has a PCI Express x16 slot that you'll use for the card, but the card you use must have a low profile mounting bracket included with it. You'll most likely have to remove the bracket it ships with and attach the low profile bracket yourself (an easy task).

That said, there is only one card that I know of that will both fit in that system AND work with it's 220W power supply...the Radeon HD 5450. It has a max power draw of 20W and isn't really a gaming card (better suited for use in an HTPC), but according to the system requirements for FF XI,

http://gamesystemrequirements.com/games.…

it's as good as, or better than the cards in the GeForce 6 series that are recommended for that game.

3D video card inside a Dell?

I'm looking at a budget PC for someone, but we'll need to add a big 3D video card. I'm talking about a card which takes up two of the rear metal case slots (because it uses one slot for video connections and one slot for air cooling).

Anybody know if such a card will fit into a Dell Studio desktop PC? Not the Slimline or the XPS - just the plain old Studio.|||Yup, as long as it's not the slimline model you're fine to use a dual-slot video card; slimlines are limited to using "low-profile" cards to the lower height, but the normal Studio cases are standard ATX mini-towers, they accept full-height dual-slot cards.

I believe that'ss all the info you need for now.

I bought this computer off of eBay for a ridiculously low price for being only 1 month old for $199. It is one hell of a great computer, but the one thing I hate is that the video card is complete garbage.

I researched on upgrading video cards on these slimlines and found that a forums saying a Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 512MB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card would work on the slimlines with a 160W PSU.

I was just wondering if this would work on mine, I think this would be a fair upgrade from what I have now and just need you guys tell me it'll work before I make the purchase!

For the slots available

1 PCI Express x16 slot for graphics card

2 PCI Express x1 slots

1 PCI slot

*Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.

Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards*

Not sure about PCI Express 2.1 compatibility I am not really good on desktops I used to use laptops for over 4 years until I decided they're garbage too.. If you need additional information on the computer here is the specs from HP (My slimline is 100% stock)

And also I found out that it has a maximum power at 20 watts so you know, I imagine my computer has 20 watts available to be used.|||Don't bother with a 5450. It's slow as hell and definitely not the fastest card you can get in there.

Get a Radeon 6570. It's the best low-profile card you'll find and is pretty darned good on power consumption.

And no, you do not have a max of 20w to be used. That's baloney. Your computer as it is will barely go over 100w under a full load.

Any single slot, low profile card will work. You don't need anything special. Hop on Newegg. They start around $70.

What is the best video card I can get for a HP pavillion slimline tower s5310f?

I think I have a g force 6150 in it alreay but am looking to upgrade for gaming without increasing the power supply to 300 watts. Does anyone know of a good video card? These slomlines neeed short cards to fit into the box. I has Athelon 3 ghz processor, 4 gig ram....|||Unfortunately, slimline computers often cannot be upgraded for gaming.

First of all, the slim chassis limits them to half-height video cards. Very few good graphics cards are available in half-height (the best you can get is the GeForce 9800GT). Second, any decent gaming card will require more power than a slimline psu provides.

The Radeon 4650 and GT220 are usually your best options for slimline computers- while their official power requirement is higher than 300W, they usually work fine in slimlines with 250W and even 220W power supplies. Check the user reviews from NewEgg, Tiger Direct etc and you'll find many success stories from slimline owners. While these cards are well below the level of midrange gaming cards, they're ok for light gaming.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Those are worth a try since it's no secret that graphics card manufacturers inflate their power recommendations far above what cards actually use.

http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php…

Cards below that like the Radeon 4350, GeForce G210 etc are fine from a power consumption standpoint but are much lower performance. The GeForce 8400GS has the lowest power draw of any half-height card, but doesn't perform much better than integrated graphics.

Another issue with slimlines is the tiny cases don't provide good airflow and cooling, so overheating and early component failures are more common than with desktops- especially if you've upgraded the graphics card, because that generates more heat.

The best solution for many people is to connect a supplementary power supply like the FSP booster X5 and run with the case open. I'm not sure how you ground these units, since they're designed to sit inside a regular tower.

Does anyone know of a good video card for an HP Pavilion Slimline s3000?

This case is very small and cramped. Ive been having difficulty finding a decent video card for it. It must be PCI x16.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec…

This is what I am working with.|||You have two major restrictions. The case size (only low-profile cards will fit) and the power supply capacity.

In general, slimlines of any brand cannot accept gaming-level graphics cards because:

1) Midrange and higher models aren't made in low-profile

2) Slimline power supplies are too weak, generally 200-225W on average. And they're proprietary, you can't replace them with readily available ATX power supplies from Newegg, Amazon etc.

Unfortunately, HP's specs for the s3000 leave out the power supply info, so you'll have to open the case and read the label. Even forum posts aren't conclusive on exactly what capacity factory power supply HP used in those models- it might be anything from 160 watts to 250 watts. Supposedly the part number is 5188-7602.

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/…

If your power supply turns out to be 220 watts, then you'd be able to install a low-profile Radeon HD 5450. That isn't a gaming card by any stretch of imagination, but it draws very little power and can play easy games like the Sims 3, World of Warcraft etc. If your psu is 250 watts, you can probably install a low-profile GeForce GT220, which is better.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

However, if the psu is below 200 watts, that's not enough to upgrade to ANY standalone card (except maybe a GeForce 8400GS which is a complete waste of time). So you'd need to upgrade the power supply first. There are 3rd-party replacements psus for slimlines available on Ebay and some specialty sites like atxpowersupplies.com.

http://cgi.ebay.com/260735081207

http://cgi.ebay.com/320651304921

With the 270 watt psu ugrade, you could run a low-profile Radeon HD 5570.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

With the 300 watt 80 plus model, you'd be able to install a low-profile Radeon HD 5670:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

That's about as good as it gets for most slimlines. There are a couple of higher-end models which exist but the power requirements exceed anything you could install. In any event the low-profile 5570 is a decent card for everyday use and light gaming.

Performance:

http://www.techspot.com/review/245-ati-r…

But beware- cramped slimline cases have poor airflow, making them prone to overheating, especially after installing any standalone graphics card upgrade. As a general class of computers, slimlines are designed to be used as-is off the shelf for everyday business/school tasks, not upgraded for gaming.|||GPU buyers guide

Upgrade video card in hp slimline 5414?

what video card is compatible with my hp slimline 5414? i want to set up dual monitors extended view.|||According to HP support, your HP 5414 has one PCIExpress 16x slot: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…

I would recommend this half-height PCIExpress 16x video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

That card can actually support up to THREE monitors (one VGA monitor, one DVI monitor, and one DisplayPort monitor).

Can I install a dual video card into my slimline S3421p computer?

No, your cheapest option is to find an ATX motherboard you like with SLI or a similar technology and buy an ATX chassis with a 500 watt power supply, and use the components of your current machine to round out the new machine.

Just be careful to find a motherboard with a socket that fits your current processor or you'll run into some more money there. Make sure you get some "processor goo" to make the transfer. A tube of it is very cheap, and a new processor is very expensive.

Don't skimp on fans, either. An ATX box is big and getting a good airflow in there is important.|||The S3421p only has one PCIe port. Therefore you cannot put more then one videocard into the motherboard.|||no. in fact you will likely have to find a low-profile video card for an hp slimline.

Can I upgrade my HP Slimline w/ a regular Graphics Card?

I have one of the HP Slimline towers, the best one they make I believe, and I love it, but I was wondering if I could upgrade video cards? This one is for sure the best stock ive ever seen, but I have a 32" 1080 HD monitor and im sure it can be better but the towers so damn small idk if I can upgrade the card...thanks!

Also, whats a good high definition video card for someone on a budget?|||Well...open up the case and with a measuring tape, see how much space there is for an add-on card (check where the PCI-Express or AGP slot is). You can Google what a PCI-Express slot or AGP slot looks like.

Many times...these slim towers will be jam packed and there won't be enough space for anything to be added. Cards sold online will give their physical dimensions so you can check to see if it will fit in your system.

So...the only way to tell is to take a look and find a card that will fit if there is some space.

EDIT:

It depends on what you're looking for the computer to do...is it a media center PC? Or will you be looking to play games (like Call of Duty or whatever) on it?

If it's mainly just to play HD video/web browsing:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

They're both low-profile so would fit if space is an issue and a regular sized card won't. Also, I believe both are HDCP enabled so you can output HD Blu-ray video or other HD content through it.|||check this link it gives you exact information you need to upgrade your slimline

Your processor draws 65W, motherboard 35W+, = 100W, not counting memory, hard drive, dvd drive, keyboard and mouse. Besides, a 120W card would require a 6 pin pci-e power connector that your power supply doesn't have and wouldn't be able to support even if you used a molex to 6 pin adapter.

The GeForce 315 is an 'oem only' card, not available for individual sale.

http://www.productwiki.com/nvidia-geforc…

HP offered the GeForce 315 (max power draw 33W) and the HD 5450 (max power draw 20W) as possible graphics upgrades for your system.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_…

Without a psu upgrade, I wouldn't recommend using a more powerful card than those. That system uses a psu with a small ATX 24 pin main motherboard connector, so you can't use just any TFX power supply, the psu upgrade must have the small ATX power connector.

Here's a 270W upgrade.

First of all, slimlines can only accept low-profile graphics cards, standard height cards are too tall to physically fit.

Alas, no midrange or higher gaming cards exist in low-profile.. just a few entry-level gaming cards and lots of general-purpose budget cards which are too slow for gaming.

The second problem is that slimlines have smaller, weaker power supplies... so they often can't even meet the power requirements of entry-level cards. Those power supplies are proprietary, so it's often impossible to upgrade them much, if at all.

The GeForce GT240 requires a 300 watt power supply. The GTX 260 requires a 550W power supply with dual power connectors. Neither is available in low-profile- there used to be a low-profile GT240 by Sparkle, but it's discontinued.

In any event, the best card that's guaranteed to work in your computer is a Radeon HD 5450, which is a budget cards not really intended for gaming. It can handle WoW on medium settings, but it's about half the speed of the Radeon HD 4650 and GeForce GT220 which are widely considered the bare-minimum cards for playing games.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

The GeForce 210 linked by a previous poster would also work with your power supply, but it's even slower- about equivalent to a Radeon HD 4350.

Here are a few POSSIBLE low-profile solutions. Their official power requirements call for 300W, but in reality they've been found to work in many systems with 220-250W power supplies. Check out the user feedback on Newegg from people who've purchased them.

Radeon HD 4650

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

GeForce GT220

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Radeon HD 5570

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

I recommend trying the 5570, because it's performance is a lot better.

Your other alternative (if your computer has an empty drive bay) is the FSP booster supplementary power supply. That would allow you to run faster cards like the low-profile Radeon HD 5670. While there's also a low-profile GeForce 9800GT, I'd recommend staying away from it. Those things have a terrible reputation for overheating, which is only magnified by slimline cases and their cramped interiors with poor airflow.

If not could you help me choose something that is compatible?|||http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/sy…

Noppers, you have an integrated graphics ~

Edit : Yeah, just replace the mobo, with desired integrated graphics.|||Are you trying to keep the slim factor? If not pick up a new case with a 400W+ PSU.

A NVIDIA 6600 would fit in there but you would definitely need to upgrade your PSU.

@Jasper - Most motherboards come with an integrated graphics chip. When you put in a new video card the computer will automatically give priority to the newly installed one.

Video card for HP Slimline PC??

I can't find it, It is smaller than a normal video card. I need to get one with a DVI outlet, where can I get it?|||What your looking for is called a "low profile" graphic card. Here's one of many online stores who carry them.

I have a slimline and the video card is Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE. Can I play WOW with this?|||that card is an integrated card so at best you will be able to run it on low settings, you need to buy a dedicated graphics card from ether Ati or Nvidia if you want to play it well, but before buying a card make sure your power supply can handle it. good luck!

I dont think that it will fit your case, but the main problem is that if yours is similar to this one:

http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products…

then there is no way that your computer will be able to handle the card anyway, since the card needs atleast a 500Watt (pref. higher), power supply.

Can i play gears of war PC with an 8500gt 256mb video card & i need video cards that can fit a slimline?

im using a slimline PC so the highest card i have is an 8500gt video card. gears of war needs a 6600 or higher... but i just wanna know how bad/good gears can play on an 8500gt. oh yahz, what kind of video cards can be used with a slimline? gimme the cards so i can check em out too!|||It'll run fine.

Hp pavilion slimline s7700n video card upgrade?

is it possible to upgrade the video card for it? it has an onboard nvidia 6150 LE..thank you...|||Sure it is possible my bro had a dell and he upgraded to a 8800GTS 640 a while back. You just gotta know how to install. It's not that hard just look for a PCI Express Slot(usually the longest one with a video card release clip on it. Screw the screw back in and plug in a power source and your set to go.|||The "Best Answer" is completely wrong.

There are different models of Dell PCs.

Whilst there might exist a model which would accommodate an 8800GTS (it is rather large) without requiring an upgrade to the supplied power unit (which is generally rather limited) in this case,

NOT IN THIS CASE

|||Yes, but your options are limited.

You have to look for a "low profile" card, not many are available that are high preformance coz of the space needed for cooling!

Dell has some custom made cards for the slim optiples line, but dell is not cheap. if you must... take it to a pro that can convert an older "low profile" card and solder memory,& change the GPU, is it worth it?|||This PC is doubly cursed - the slimline case would limit upgrade cards to half height (low profile) only, but worse still:

the A8N-BR motherboard has only a single expansion slot - and it's PCI...

NewEgg list quite a few such cards...

The Sparkle 9400GT looks pretty tasty... avoid brands with plenty of "open box" availability, surely someone will have returned them for a reason. Avoid the MX4000 and the FX5200 - the 9250 doesn't have much to recommend it either.

Replacing video/graphics card on HP Slimline s3720f...?

Okay, so I have an HP Slimline s3720f desktop PC.

It came with nVidia GeForce 7100/nForce 630i.

And I HATE this graphics card! Only around 100mb! Very disappointed because Grand Theft Auto IV is unplayable.

I need to know if I can even replace this stupid thing.

The back of the computer looks pretty crammed, as if everything is all one piece...

Here's a picture: http://www.pacificgeek.com/largeimage.as…

I'm not even sure if anything would fit in here...

Know of anything compatible?

Also, I know this is stupid, but... is it like plug and play? Or what do I have to do software wise? I don't wanna replace it and then not have it show anything on my monitor.

Here are some video cards I have interest in:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/sys/1842…

Oh, and my monitor only supports VGA.|||GTA IV is a fairly intense 3D graphic game, so failing to run on integrated graphics is no surprise.

That slimline HP can take a short, low profile video card, but the stock power supply is a paltry 160W. The only card on your list that will even physically fit is the G210 from Amazon, and that card is woefully underpowered for GTA IV.

The only video card I'm aware of that can physically fit, barely meet the minimum recommended video card level for GTA IV and maybe run on your existing power supply is the Radeon HD 5570. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcom…

Honestly, if you want to play GTA IV at good frame rates, you're going to have to get a new PC.|||What if you removed the HP media Drive Bay could you fit one in then???

HP SLIMLINE s3300t Video card?

Hello,

I have a Slimline s3300t and I would like to have dual monitors on it. As far as my research, I do have a 180 Watt powersupply which I will have to replace, and I still cant find a good video card that would fit in and be good on price.

So, I would like to know where can I find a power supply with more wattage to support a video card for dual monitor, Also what video card you recommend me that will fit in this slimline. Be aware that I am also putting 4GB of ram (currently 2)

This is my specs:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…

P.S. Does adding more wattage on the power supply will do harm to my processor or anything else on my pc?

Thank you.|||>I seriously doubt you will find a power supply above 350 Watts and that would take one heck of search. Those slimline boxes are just not made to put a standard ATX power supply into and that is what you are going to need to power two monitors - if you can find a half-height video card that accomodates two LCD's. The slimline computers are the next thing above a totall integrated all-in-one...this makes it extremely difficult to upgrade the parts to more powerful ones which require more physical space in the chassis. I don't think 350 watts will even be adequate to drive two monitors. Frequently, those slimline computers have a proprietary non-ATX compliant motherboard which makes them impossible to switch the internal parts out into a mid-tower case since the back headers won't align properly and the holes for the motherboard are non-ATX - so I think you are stuck with what you have.|||The 180Watt power supply you have now is not enough to power even a nintendo DS! Go to newegg.com and look for low profile video cards, you have plenty of options.About the power supply I doubt a standard ATX will fit this small case so you have to do a little search there too.|||@Computer ER Sorry, but 180W is nowhere near enough to power any low-profile video card.

You cannot upgrade your video card, ever, because your PSU is proprietary and will never supply enough power for a better video card. There is no replacement PSU that will provide enough power. Even the most basic GPU will require at least a 300W PSU (almost twice what you have).

You CAN use a USB video card to get additional monitors, but it's not a TRUE video card.

You could plug a 1500W PSU into that computer (if you could get it to fit) and it would function just fine. Your computer will consume as much power as it needs, regardless of how much power you supply. Think of it like this. In your house, you have a breaker box, with a lot of fuses, most of which will be rated at 20A (or so). If you plug one lamp into that circuit, is it pulling all 20A? No, it's just pulling the wattage of the light bulb(s).

If you got that 300w PSU, you MIGHT be able to make it work, if it's efficient enough, however, know that getting into that computer to replace it is a pain. With that 300W PSU, you can probably fit a GPU in that requires up to 400W of power.

If you do upgrade the PSU, keep in mind that not all PSUs are created equal. The watt rating of a PSU is a rating of how much power it CONSUMES, not now much power it outputs. For example, an OCZ ~600W PSU will provide MORE power to your computer than a Zion 800W PSU, because the OCZ PSU will more efficiently convert the power.

Check the amperage outputs for the 12v rails (there may be more than one listing for 12v), and add them together to figure out how much power it's putting out. Some of the PSUs have a stamp on there that says '80', with some other text nearby, meaning it's got a high efficiency rating.

Also, a 300W PSU could actually produce more excess power because those slimline PCs consume less power than your average computer, and the "Recommended requirements" are based off your average desktop's specs for power consumption.|||Don't listen to any of the others. I have a slimline box with a non-standardATX motherboard & have upgraded just about EVERYTHING.

I've added in:

a better CPU (was an Athlon x2 3800 - now a 6000)

a better GPU (was onboard, now an 8600GT)

& More RAM (4GB)

...all on a non-compliant 180watt PSU.

The truth is, all of these components are rated as using xxx amount of watts but usually use FAR LESS. As far as the manufacturer specs, what I'm doing is IMPOSSIBLE - but I'm not the only one out there doing it. There are thousands of peeps upgrading so-called 'un-upgradable' low-profile PCs, whether they're HPs, Dells, whatever.

Go for it & good luck!

Will a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB Graphics Video Card fit in my Hp Slimline s5503w?

No, a GeForce 8800GTS won't fit.

In fact, slimline computers like the HP s5503w can't accept ANY standard-height cards. The slimline case restricts you to low-profile (half-height) cards.

Moreover, slimlines have physically smaller low-wattage power supplies, usually 200-225 watts. Those power supplies are proprietary, you cannot replace them with a standard ATX psu purchased from Newegg or Amazon, because just like standard cards, they are too large for the slimline case.

That means you're limited to very low power consumption cards, like the low-profile Radeon HD 5450.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

You MIGHT be able to run a low-profile Radeon HD 6450, GeForce GT220 or Radeon HD 5570, but there's no guarantee those would work. They're better performers than the 5450 but also draw more power.

What video card can i put in?

hello. i want to get a new video card for my comp. its a HP Pavilion Slimline s3200n Pc but idk which to get and IF it will even fit in the case. so any ideas? i just want a better one that it allready has it has a Nvidia GeForce 6150. but i need something with a little more kick. cuz i play battlefield 2, bf2142, Americas army. etc. i want a video card that can handle those at its max.|||your motherboard supports one PCI Express x16 slot so you should buy a pci-e card. what you pay for really is what you get when you buy a graphics card so it all depends on what you want to spend. also remember vista supports directx 10, while xp only supports dx9. the best way is to make a decision on what you can actually afford and from there go and read reviews on the latest cards. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/Comp… is a reliable source of information. all cards are reviewed and benchmarked to give you an idea of what you can expect from it performance wise.

Can i use dual monitors with the HP Slimline s3720y or do i need to buy an another video card?

Right now i am looking to possible buy a second monitor. as i do a lot of multi tasking on my computer.

is there a splitter i could buy. so like i watch something on hulu on one

well surfing the web on the other and what not

if i can't do that will my computer be able to add one a second video card.

thanks for your help|||The HP Slimline s3720y uses onboard graphics, meaning there is no actual dedicated card in the computer. you cannot run dual monitors on integrated graphics, im sorry. you will need to buy a low profile dual header graphics card to run 2 monitors. There are a few of these on the market, the problem is the HP Slimline s3720y has a 160w power supply. so, if you want to upgrade graphics you will most likely also need to upgrade your power supply. I would suggest buying a new cheap computer that comes with a dual header card, because it will only cost a bit more than having to upgrade both the psu and graphics, and buying a new system you would upgrade all of your components.|||Don't go out and buy a new computer. Have one built. You can get alot better performance for cheaper.

|||Do you have another port on your video card for another monitor? and does your motherboard have on board video?

How would i tell what the maximum size video card is that i can put on my PC?

It's a HP Pavilion Slimline s5112f... i want to upgrade to a video card, but i want to make sure i dont get one thats to powerful for the motherboard to handle|||ok - a couple of things to watch out for.

1. most top end video cards (PCI-E) have an extra PCI-E power connector which must be connected to your PSU - if you do not already have a PCI-E power lead ready to connect, you will need an adapter lead, to convert a spare HDD power connector to PCI-E (quite cheap)

2. a question of space - strongly advise you to measure how much free space there is around your intended graphics slot on the mobo. I just bought an 8800GTX which was a LOT bigger than expected (268mm by 36mm thick = 2 slots), and I had to shoe-horn it in, and move SATA connectors on the mobo. So at least measure (mm) how much straight line space there is from the accessory slot on the back panel, over the top of the intended mobo slot, toward the front of PC case - taking note of any obstructions along the way (like sassenfrassen SATA connectors)|||Just make sure your power supply can handle what the reading on video card will say. Like the box that came with mine said it will need "550 Watt" power supply. Just make sure you computer is compatible with the specs on the box of the video card.

Also could look at the Geforce GT420 or GT520.|||Eesh, Slimlines suck for video card upgrades. You have only a 220w power supply. A low profile Radeon 6570 is going to be the best you can do with it. You can find them for about $70. Get a Radeon 5570 if you want something closer to $50.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

They should be fine for a slim form factor PC.|||If I have the correct info you have a case that is no more than 2.6 inches deep, and from the outside. I suspect you need a very low profile card. I did notice another point that may preclude many cards from consideration, you probably have a PSU of 135W. You also need a very low power card. I am not able to find the power rating on a GT 210 but the GT 220 runs a heft 58W and would probably be a difficult card to run in that power envelope. You have a very constrained system here.

I believe the size of the computer may require a video card which is smaller. Which video card will work?|||If its a slimline computer, a regular PCI, agp, or pciX car will not fit into the computer. You need to find out what kind of avalible slots are in the computer if any. The smaller form factor pcs usually do not leave much room or standard expansion slots. Slim computers don't really conform to a standard computer setup so there generally difficult to upgrade.|||You need a low-profile video card. check out the following models:

Hp Pavilion Slimline Graphics Card Upgrade?

.how to find a right side video card for my Hp Pavilion Slimline s3020n pc and where to buy it??? thank you|||Well, the only graphics cards which fit in slimline computer are low-profile models, which limits your choices right off the bat. Furthermore, many slimlines have proprietary power supplies which can't be upgraded, so even if you found a really good low-profile card, the computer might not be able to provide enough power for it.

Your best bet is the low-profile Radeon 4650, available online from NewEgg and Amazon for about $55:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.amazon.com/EAH4650-DI-512MD2-…

It's got decent performance and low power consumption. Like night and day compared to the standard integrated graphics built-in to your computer's motherboard :)

More powerful and expensive low-profile cards do exist (The GeForce 9600GT and amazingly, 9800GT) but those require a power supply upgrade, which may or may not be possible for your particular model.|||I just purchased and installed the MSI Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 Low Profile video card into my HP Slimline s5310y machine (4GB RAM, Athlon II X2 250, Win7 64-bit) to play Portal 2 and LOVE IT. According to the specs, the s7700n has just one old non-express 33mHz PCI slot, which is totally unsuitable for graphics cards. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…

There are non-express PCI graphics cards available, but those will be SLOWER than your onboard graphics because they are terribly bottlenecked by the snail-slow 33mHz PCI transfer speed.

You want better graphics, you need a new computer with PCIExpress.

I have an HP slimline desktop PC my video card is intergrated on my motherboard need to change it. How?

Add a new video card in the appropriate extra slot.

Then disable your old card. I have done this in the past for people.

It is very simple and works well on integrated audio also.

You can google the details. But make sure you get the new card up and running first with the correct drivers. Then disable your integrated card.

Will save you from having it repaired.

HP sometimes uses a "best guess".

Try re-installing the drivers to your current card.

Have you considered an "external graphics card"?
