How would i tell what the maximum size video card is that i can put on my PC?

It's a HP Pavilion Slimline s5112f... i want to upgrade to a video card, but i want to make sure i dont get one thats to powerful for the motherboard to handle|||ok - a couple of things to watch out for.

1. most top end video cards (PCI-E) have an extra PCI-E power connector which must be connected to your PSU - if you do not already have a PCI-E power lead ready to connect, you will need an adapter lead, to convert a spare HDD power connector to PCI-E (quite cheap)

2. a question of space - strongly advise you to measure how much free space there is around your intended graphics slot on the mobo. I just bought an 8800GTX which was a LOT bigger than expected (268mm by 36mm thick = 2 slots), and I had to shoe-horn it in, and move SATA connectors on the mobo. So at least measure (mm) how much straight line space there is from the accessory slot on the back panel, over the top of the intended mobo slot, toward the front of PC case - taking note of any obstructions along the way (like sassenfrassen SATA connectors)|||Just make sure your power supply can handle what the reading on video card will say. Like the box that came with mine said it will need "550 Watt" power supply. Just make sure you computer is compatible with the specs on the box of the video card.
